With the IMDG Code No. 34-08 published by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Maritime Safety Committee (MSC), IMDG code trainings have been made compulsory for the personnel of coastal facilities handling dangerous goods within the scope of the code. In our country, the local regulation within this scope entered into force by the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications as “Regulation on Training and Authorization within the Scope of the International Code for Dangerous Goods Transported by Sea”, published in the Official Gazette dated February 4, 2011 and numbered 27836. It has been revised with the Regulation published in the Gazette and the Official Gazette dated 16 January 2016 and numbered 29601.

IMDG trainings within the scope of the said regulation:

General Awareness Training (1 day)
Mission-Oriented Training (2.5 days)
Safety Training (1/2 days)
Renewal Training (1 day)

General Awareness-Mission-Oriented and Safety Trainings are organized as 4 combined days within the scope of the relevant legislation. Again, according to the local legislation, at the end of the training, at least 25 questions are made and the participants who get 70 from the exam are given a certificate approved by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. The renewal period of the trainings is 2 years.
